Color blindness tests are great first step. We recomend printed books, as opposed to online charts. Color resolutions on computer monitors vary and can give bad colorblind test results.
Lately, there have been some press about colorblindness treatments. Contact lenses and specially tinted glasses are not really a cure. What they do is to create deeper contrasts in colors. You don't really see the colors any better, you just see more contrast, especially for red - green colorblindness.
We'll keep searching and when we find the next promissing treatment it will be posted on this site rignt away.
